Red-footed tortoises are native to different habitats in the nother portion of South America.
Red-footed tortoises have highly variable diet, but mostly eat fruits, grasses and vegetables. Occasionally, they will eat invertebrates such as ants, beetles, and worms.
Males are generally larger and more colorful than females. Tortoises are generally inactive and resting throughout the day. Tortoises may congregate in abandoned burrows or tree trunks for shelter.
Threats to the red-footed tortoise include trade, hunting for food and habitat destruction.
