Miniature Horse

Juliet joined The Zoo in 2004 with Penny joining her almost ten years later in 2013. Penny is the larger female miniature horse in the corral and a bit of a troublemaker. Juliette is the smaller, more timid female miniature horse.

Range

Mini horses are a domesticated breed.


Diet

The majority of the horse diet is grass, hay and grain. Penny and Juliet also love when guests feed them grain cones.


Social Structure

Too small to be ridden, these miniature horses were once used to pull heavy carts in mines. Today, they can often be found working as therapy animals and sometimes even as a guide animal for someone with a visual impairment.
