Green iguanas feed almost entirely on vegetation, including leaves, flowers and fruit.
These lizards use head bobs to communicate with one another. Young iguanas stay with their family groups for their first year of life, and adult males will protect females from predators and other threats.
In some parts of the world, the green iguana is harvested for its meat and eggs at an unsustainable rate. This iguana is also impacted by the international pet trade and habitat loss. Their current population trend is unknown.
