Pekin Duck

August was surrendered to The Zoo as a duckling in August of 2023. A couple of boaters discovered him abandoned in a box near the Connecticut River and brought him to The Zoo so he could receive the care he needed. He is a very friendly duck and gets along well with other animals.

Poultry feed, vegetables, grain, and sometimes fruit


Social Structure

Their eggs are white or off-white, and they can lay about 150 eggs per year. Male Pekin ducks are generally larger and heavier and have a set of curled tail feathers, which are absent in the females.
